How to Serve Caviar at Home

Tin of caviar on ice with a mother of pearl spoon, blinis and crisps

Serving caviar is easy once you know a few simple rules. Here is all you need for your next celebration.

Keep it cold

Store the tin at 0 to 4°C. Take it out ten minutes before serving and set it on ice, or in a caviar server such as our Riviera or Scarlett.

Skip the metal spoon

Silver and steel can leave a metallic taste. A mother of pearl caviar spoon keeps the flavour pure.

Taste it pure first

Place a little caviar on the back of your hand and let it warm for a moment. Roll the pearls over your tongue to taste the buttery, nutty notes.

Then add blinis

Serve on warm blinis with a little crème fraîche. Keep toppings simple, so the caviar stays the star.

How much per person?

  • Aperitif: 10 to 15 g
  • Starter: 20 to 30 g
  • Main event: 50 g

What to drink

A dry Champagne, or ice-cold vodka for the traditional way.
